Kid Stuff

Did you catch this new chalkboard paint in the most amazing hues by Hudson Paint in the new House Beautiful? Can you imagine a boys room wall in that Hazard orange with navy blue accents? So fun.

Eddie Ross and Michelle having a good time!

So back from New York and I promised I would report! What a fun time to be had in the Big A. In a terrible rainstorm I cabbed it to the Lonny Magazine Launch Party held at Ochre in Soho. I was met by founder Michelle Adams and her dad who she remarked was most happy to have him at the party which I thought was so sweet. She is as pretty on the inside as on the out and the girl knows how to get it done! Soon after then met cutie pie photographer and co-founder Patrick Cline who helped me fix my Nikon camera settings (how funny is that?)and chatted about the volume of positive responses to Lonny. They make a great team and I hear they are off to Paris for a story! As I strolled down the lane to grab a glass of wine, I was fortunate to run into the adorable and uber talented Michael Devine . Catch Michael in House Beautiful's How Do You Like To Entertain feature in this month's issue. Michael proceeded to grab my arm and introduce me to the fabulous set that occupied the party. He knows everybody! First, we bumped into Lonny cover girl Kate Townsend and her very sweet and proud husband Bill. Michael and I were teasing him how did didn't quite make the "cut" in Lonny.
I also had the good fortune of meeting David Duncan of David Duncan Antiques. He and his partner Michael McGraw are actually visiting Scranton over the holidays so we made some plans to meet up! David's shop looks amazing and I cannot wait to visit it the next time I'm in New York.
The place got packed with designers, bloggers, and style setters like Mr. Eddie Ross, who seems to be just about everywhere and in everything these days! He couldn't have been sweeter as I greeted him in passing. The night was full of so many interesting people and stories, I'm glad I took the trip to take part in Lonny's successful start.
Thanks hubbie for the pass! And you too Alexis!

Lonny la la love you....

Ok, so I know I am like the last person to post about the premier issue of Lonny Magazine. Founders Michelle Adams (of Rubie Green fame) and photographer extraordinaire Patrick Cline ambitiously and bravely set out to fill the void of our beloved you know who that gave us affordable, approachable design month after month. And boy, did they deliver!!!!! From Kate Townsend Simpson's blessed baby days in her gorgeous home, to Deborah Needleman's country abode that makes you want to pick up and find the first fresh air manor available, plus much much more which we never could get from the glossies due to page restrictions. Lonny, we love!!!

And this mommy gets to meet the fabulous Ms. Green and the gang from Lonny next week in New York City. I can't wait to report!

Getting Deep

With the gloomy weather here in Pennsylvania and Fall setting in, I'm craving a dark, moody space to curl up with a glass of wine and a nice thick blanket.

Photos from Caitlin Creer (love her!), Elle Decor, Flair NYC, Michael Smith Interior Design, and that fabulous first room I cannot recall. If you can, email me!

Cool Cape May

Gigi danced the beach all week

Drinks at the Brown Room in Congress Hall

I loved the chandeliers in this bed and breakfast

Seating on the porch seemed always to draw a few cocktails and guests every night

It seems like just about every other blog writer is off to Paris for September. But with a toddler and a 4 1/2 month old, the Jersey shore looked like the perfect quick fix for this end of season. Mix in a couple of great friends from Scranton and it made the perfect getaway. Quaint Cape May, filled with old Victorian charm with a m infused hipper vibe thanks to the likes of the re-invented Congress Hall. Cue hotelier Curtis Banshaw along with his talented interior designer sister Colleen, whol took this enormous structure on and made it relevent again, creating a youthful vibe with the likes of the Brown Room Bar and Boiler Room restaurant housed inside the pretty yellow and black shuttered hotel. We joined our friends Bill and Jen Davis for drinks one chilly evening at the beach. The deep brown walls with blown up black and white photos of original Congress Hall photos gave a sophisticated vibe, while touches of zebra and ikat pillows added a youthful touch. Add a roaring fire and you get a perfect setting for a relaxing evening sans the children Loved the enormous faux palms that soared to the ceiling, the toparies that glistened against the enormous mirror about the fire, and the smart seating plan that made everyone that night settle in for great cocktails.

We always found it easy to dine, shop, and navigate the town with the kids, as strollers are parked along center city, with great little restaurants tucked in between your typical beach shops. The beaches shimmered with the September light each day. Ah, back to reality. Thanks Cape May!

Fall

It's here I think As much as I cringe at that thought of a whole six months of our freezing weather here in the Northeast, I do love all things Fall. Here are a couple of pictures to get you in the mood too. Ok, at least I get one week at the beach....
