Bench Love

This 9 foot visual feast from John Derian Dry Goods is the cat's meow. And at $3500 bucks, I think that is a whole lot of lounging space. Image it on a long wall, with a couple of John Robshaw pillows strewn about. Delish!

Country Cottage

I don't know what it is about the near end of Winter (thank heavens) that makes me think of country cottages. Perhaps its the breezy air and thoughts of opening the doors out to a wonderful covered terrace. My garden at the new house in non-existant. It's basically an empty lot. But I have plans. This Country House featured on Martha Stewart Living is owned by Angus Wilkie.

Upon Further Inspection

Katie Lee Joel's bathroom decorated by Nate Berkus is just so gorgeous and so well appointed in a simple, no nonsense sort of way. Pale blue walls paired with gold and silver accents and a pitch perfect basketweave tile. Yum! And it goes to show you that you don't have to stick with just ONE finish. That is a trap that all of us at one time or another seem to fall into. The cabinet maker in our house couldn't believe I was pairing brass with nickle and a little bronze too. Its allowed and its great. I adore the sconces, anyone recognize? Not sure I do. I love the glitzy chandelier too and the silk ( I think) simple roman shade behind the perfect floating tub.

All That Glitters

Katie Lee Joel's town house in New York City is chalked full of details that I just love. But in particular, I love this gilded vestibule between her closet and bathroom. The area is just under 200sq.ft. with 14 karat gold applied to the walls for a most romantic effect. I think its best in small doses, but spectacular when done right. Nate Berkus had a hand in the interior design, which I'm not surprised. Love the basket weave marble on the floor just beyond, mainly because that it was I put down in my second floor bath and I couldn't be happier (FYI, hides EVERYTHING).

Anyhow, after some research on gold foiled walls and ceilings, its not as bad as you would think to apply and there are faux karat versions (as in you don't have to marry Billy Joel to afford it). Here is a link

Currently Obsessed With...

Black lamp shades over a light colored base. Ooh, and add a little gold lining for shimmer.

If I get to Boston, I'm definitely heading to Hudson, where these two pretty lamps are from.

When One Door Closes....

Another is sure to open. Let's hope so with all the sad closings in the design industry. But life marches on, you best march on with it. I think bloggers will have a huge influence and fill a void for years to come, especially with the lack of resources for inspirational interiors. So I'm going to try to do my part part to keep the fire lit.

Snow Day

With it snowing and sleeting outside paired and the sad news of Domino Magazine closing, I think I need a snow day. I love this boy's bedroom from House Beautiful. Please don't close as well, HB! They'll be nothing left.

I Wish

I was soaking in this tub right now. I apologize for the total lack of posts lately. Feeling veeeerry pregant as I'm officially in my third trimester and keeping my nose to the working grindstone. But I'm lining up some (hopefully) great posts.

The bath posted is by the fabulously colorful Amanda Nisbett
